Chardstock Historical Record Group
Sector: Private
Serves: All Saints, Chardstock
CHRG was formed in 2000 with the primary objective of gathering and making information about the history of the Parishes of Chardstock and All Saints available to the greatest number of people world-wide. The group is achieving this aim in two ways; by running a dedicated web site and by the publication of books about local history. The Web Museum was launched in 2009 and includes transcriptions of the Parish Registers for baptisms, marriages and burials at St. Andrews Church, the Memorial Inscriptions for St. Andrew's Church, the Census returns for Chardstock and All Saints from 1841 to 1901, records relating to the Chardstock Estate from 1873 to the estate sale in 1915/16 and information relating to Wills & Probate, house histories, land surveys dating back to 1635 and a miscellany section covering a wide range of historical information about both parishes. We plan to upload new information onto the Web Museum twice yearly, usually in May and December. The site is primarily designed to help people undertake their own research, although we will always try to help with any problems encountered. Our contact details are shown below. We also offer a range of Books & Publications, which can be purchased by order direct from the Group, or on-line via our link to The Parish Chest website
