The Freedom of Information Act 2000 gives rights of access to all types of recorded information held by Public Authorities. Under this Act each local authority that comprises the Devon Partnership has both to produce a Publications Scheme, (a guide to all its publicly available information), and to deal with all individual requests for information.
This is a natural extension of the Data Protection Act 1998 as it allows access to all types of information whether it be personal or non-personal. Exemptions will apply to certain types of information, for example anything that pertains to serious issues of national security, law enforcement or commercial interests. All the exemptions that can and will apply will be detailed in the published list of publicly available information.
If a document contains some information that is exempt then this will be edited out and the rest of the document will be made available.
