Pollution of land, air and water is mostly caused by man-made activities and can cause harm to people's health and the environment. The pollution can be in many forms, including gases given off to the atmosphere, noise, poisonous waste buried in the ground. Councils in Devon play a key role in measuring, controlling and, where possible, reducing pollution.
This is done partly by giving advice to businesses and individuals, and partly by enforcing the law.
The links below lead to information on the main types of pollution.and what can be done about them.
If you or your business are worried by, for example, noise, air pollution or contaminated land please contact your local Council complaints/enquiries
