What
is the Devon Portal?Portals generally are types of websites that act
as gateways to other websites, and allow the information on those other websites to be presented through
them.
Devonline, otherwise known as the Devon Portal, (www.devonline.gov.uk) offers access
to a wide range of information and services from the local authorities of Devon. It is provided by the
Devon Partnership and has been set up to give you a single, memorable web-address
to make it easier and simpler to find information and services available to you – especially if you
are not sure who to contact, or where. It is also used by many face-to-face and telephone advisers.
From Devonline you can access information from the County, Unitary and District
Councils, Devon & Cornwall Constabulary, Devon Fire & Rescue Service and Dartmoor National Park.
You can also find community information provided by a small pilot of Devon Town and Parish Councils.
How does Devonline work?
Devonline works by providing both accessibility to information and flexibility of
approach. If you would prefer to search for specific information by focusing on one particular location
you can do so, or you can search across them all. It is not necessary to know beforehand which authority
provides which service.
There are various ways of searching for information on the portal, including the
Devon Search facility, Quick Search (A-Z) and Site
Map. More detail on how to use each of these facilities is shown on the Search Tips
page.
Devonline is developing all the time, and new services will be added constantly.
